What are the "four strategies to resilience" and how can we use them right now, more than ever? In a Facebook Live event, join Audie Award-nominated author, TEDx speaker, award-winning actress, and mixed media artist Amy Oestreicher for a discussion on how we can cultivate our "resiliency toolbox" with hope, humor and creativity based on the strategies she used to survive and thrive after her own near-death trauma - or "beautiful detour." As a survivor—and ‘thriver’—of abuse and extensive medical trauma, Amy discovered sources of resilience she didn’t know she had but it turns out we all possess. In her memoir, "My Beautiful Detour: An Unthinkable Journey from Gutless to Grateful," she shares the story of her beautiful detour, empowering others to find gratitude in every setback and discover their own infinite inner strength. What happens when an ordinary teenager has to turn into a warrior just to survive? And can the journey through Post Traumatic Stress Disorder really become an “adventure?” In this coming of age story, Amy shares her struggles and discoveries living with both visible and invisible illness, the tremendous gifts to be reaped from trauma, its lessons which have illuminated her path, and how these gifts can be discovered as a unique, yet universal way to navigate any kind of uncertainty. Join her for interactive exercises, tools, and stories to help us cope with "social distancing," keeping our bodies, minds and spirits healthy, and celebrating life's everyday miracles - or beautiful detours. This is a discussion you won't want to miss. Tune into Facebook Live on Thursday March 26th at 7pm on Oestreicher's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/amyoestr for a discussion about LoveMyDetour and how we can love our detours right here and now with the wonders of creativity. For artists and non-artists, readers and non-readers alike, and all ages aike!
