Stories from Around the World

“Stories are light. Light is precious in a world so dark. Begin at the beginning. Make some light.”
 The Tale of Despereaux

Here is a wonderful collection of stories from storytellers all around the world for children to listen to during the quarantine - in so many different languages, from so many different countries. I am so ecstatic, honored, humbled, and proud knowing that now, my grandmother's story is now one of the beautiful tales being shared here.

Check out this story, which I recorded outside in honor of the nature walks my grandmother would always take me on. For kids (oh heck, for everyone) There's even a puzzle made from one of my paintings, that you can put together as you listen! You can also read my article,

How My Grandmother's Death Made Me Love Myself Again ...

Hope it inspires you to keep looking out for that bird soaring above your head, just when you may need it most...

Here’s the mission behind this wonderful initiative.

Here’s the translation:

”From the ARIPI ASSOCIATION we launch this initiative for the difficult times we are going through. We hope that this confinement does not mean isolation for any person.

We are a non-profit cultural association that was created in 2005 in Alicante. Its name is ARIPI (Friends of Romania for the Initiative and Promotion of Cultural Exchanges).

The CUENTACUARENTENAS project is born from the desire to share with children and adults what unites us: childhood, a time of discovery, fantasy, possibilities, big dreams and small steps. Unfortunately, many childhoods share another reality, that of war, famine, terror, violence, exploitation ... Hopefully these days of forced reflection will bring us back to life more caring, responsible and humane.”
